If you have a disability that prevents you from working on a long-term basis, you should apply for Canada Pension Plan Disability Benefits. If you are or have made a claim for long-term disability benefits, it is a good idea to apply for CPP Disability Benefits. You can find the application on the Service Canada website. You will have to have your doctor complete a Medical Report as part of the application. It is important to keep your lawyer informed of any decisions made by Service Canada with respect to CPP Disability Benefits.
