Long-term disability claims can arise from both physical and psychological illnesses. Mental illnesses affect many Canadians. Receiving a proper diagnosis is very important in the treatment of mental illnesses.
Researchers in Israel have developed an application (“app”) that can monitor a client’s “behaviour” using his or her smartphone. The researchers are from Tel Aviv University. They have considered how mental illness is best diagnosed by monitoring patients’ behavioural patterns and have taken this into consideration while developing their app. The idea is to help physicians to treat and diagnose mental illness and to make use of the smartphone functionality available for analysis. By analyzing call logs, texts and other cell phone habits, the app is able to gather data and convert it into information about the patient’s behavioural pattern. The identifying parameters of the patient or his or her contacts are blocked and not used by the app. The actual content of the text messages and the calls is never records or acquired. The app focuses on recognizing patterns. If you or someone you know have been denied long term disability benefits or your benefits have been terminated for any reason, it is important to contact an experienced lawyer as soon as possible. Your lawyer can explain your rights and what steps need to be taken. * This blog is for informational purposes only and is not meant to substitute legal advice.
