Know your rights

You have a right to safe work environment. If you have been injured at work, or have become disabled due to a workplace accident (physical or psychological), and are not covered by WSIB you can contact the lawyers at Aaron Waxman & Associates. A  lawyer will provide advice with respect to what type of compensation you may be eligible for including loss of wages. Our lawyers also represent clients for various types of employment matters including wrongful dismissal. We know that the loss of employment is both financially and psychologically devastating. If you think you have been wrongfully terminated, if you have experienced mental distress or a toxic workplace, and are not part of a collective agreement, you can contact one of our lawyers for a free consultation. A lawyer can review documents you were asked to sign by your employer.

Please take a few moments to read through the facts on this page and feel free to take a look at some of our blog posts regarding employment and workplace issues.

Avoiding injury on the road

Car accidents can have a lasting impact on victims and their families. Driver safety is important. In the event that you or a family member is involved in a car accident, it is important to know your rights and that you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries or loss of income. We encourage everyone to educate themselves with respect to the dangers of distracted driving, the types of injuries that may arise from an accident and to read up on driver safety tips.

A brain injury can happen to anyone

Brain injuries affect hundreds of thousands of Canadians on a daily basis. Brain injuries don’t just happen to athletes or military personnel, they can happen to anyone. A brain injury can happen as a result of a blow to the head caused for example by a car accident, slip and fall accident or another type of personal injury. The symptoms and impact of a brain injury are long lasting. A brain injury not only affects the individual who has sustained it, but his or her family as well.

End the stigma now

The lawyers and staff at Aaron Waxman & Associates aim to assist clients who suffer from mental illnesses and to help raise awareness as we believe that education can help to stop stigma. Mental illnesses affects many Canadians and can affect a person’s ability to work. Many claims for long-term disability benefits are claims for depression, anxiety and other types of mental illnesses. Please take a few moments to read some of the facts below.

Know your rights

At Aaron Waxman and Associates, we practice disability law and employment law, which means we help clients who have made long-term disability claims for various conditions, including postpartum depression, and help clients who may run into employment-related difficulties in all types of situations, including while on parental leave. Sometimes a new parent may run into unexpected challenges or even experience workplace discrimination when trying to arrange or extend parental leave. Postpartum depression (or any type of postpartum onset mental illness) is challenging to deal with while caring for an infant, and we understand how upsetting it is to receive a denial letter from an insurance company. We feel it is always important to know your rights as an employee and in the free initial consultation we offer, we can discuss what these rights are. If you have received a denial letter from your insurer or if you or your spouse need to take a leave from your employment due to the birth or adoption of a child, and want to know what your rights are, or have experienced any challenges, we are here to help you understand and answer your questions.
